Welcome to Late Birds, our bilingual after-school care at the John F. Kennedy School. At Late Birds we offer flexible, dependable childcare at the school to all students from Entrance Class to grade 6. It is a fun place to go to after school on days when additional care is needed.
Late Birds is run by Villa Grips Soziale und Bildungsdienste gGmbH, an external care provider (accredited by the Berlin Jugendhilfe).
Our staff will either pick up your child after school in their grade level hallway or welcome your child after school in our rooms located in the Elementary School Building. (Main Room R167 phone 030-90299-5116) They will accompany the children to the Aula to eat a hot lunch. The children may choose among a variety of activities and will have plenty of time to play, do homework, go to one of our clubs or just relax or spend time with their friends.
Children taking the school bus at 3 or 4 pm will be accompanied to the bus by Late Birds staff members. We will also make sure that your children arrive on time at their extra-curricular activities held at school.
JFKS has excellent outdoor facilities and Late Birds is happy to utilize these resources letting the children spend as much time outside as possible. We play soccer, table tennis, basketball, and many other fun and creative activities outside. Inside we have a variety of board games, a huge collection of Lego and Kapla bricks, costumes for acting and sketches, and other activities to engage the children. There is also a book corner with books to read. We offer the children in our arts and crafts room numerous possibilities for creative drawing , painting, and handicrafts.
We also offer different activity clubs each day. These clubs change from semester to semester. From Nature Club, Sports Club, Cooking Corona Style to Creative Crafts we have a wide variety of activities for all interests. Clubs take place from 2:15 until 3 pm and from 3 pm to 4 pm to give all children the opportunity to participate if they would like.
The children should feel at home at Late Birds. We offer care in small groups and a warm and friendly environment. Our childcare team has experience with children of different cultures and age groups. The security of your children is of utmost importance to us.
